The Board of Directors for the South Tama Recreation Trail Project is working on plans to extend the initial trail segment (see the potential routes on the Trail Map page) to connect the business districts of Tama and Toledo as well as the Meskwaki Settlement.
Trail segments will initially be surfaced with crushed limestone but the group may seek donations and grants to extend the trail and convert the segments to smoother concrete or asphalt surfaces.
The trail may eventually become part of the Ioway Trail System which is being developed to link communities in the Iowa River Valley corridor between Marshalltown and the Iowa City/Coralville area.
